Police arrest 'potential serial killer'

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - DeKalb County Police arrest a man they call a “potential serial killer,” after he's accused of tying up two women, raping them, and strangling one of them to death.

“It has the markings of someone who is potentially very disturbed, and someone who clearly we needed to get off the streets,” said Dr. Cedric Alexander, Director of DeKalb County Public Safety.

Police arrested 24-year-old Terique Hall, and charged him with murder and multiple counts of rape and aggravated sodomy.

Police said both crimes occurred a week apart on a Friday in the same area of DeKalb County, around Panola Road and Snapfinger Park Drive.

Police said November 11, Hall found his first victim, bound her and sexually assaulted her.

Then the following Friday, November 18, police said Hall attacked his victim at the Quality Inn and Suites, bound the victim and strangled her.

Police identified the victim as 20-year-old Ashley Mays, who was pregnant.

Dr. Alexander said, despite few leads, a combination of hard detective work and community support led to Hall's arrest.

"We got him off the street, before someone else was hurt," Dr. Alexander said.

Police are still concerned Hall could have more victims who were afraid to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact DeKalb County investigators.
