Cobb County Police are looking for the shooter responsible for firing a bullet through a home and hitting a 12-year-old in the stomach.

Neighbors say they heard the single gunshot and then saw more thana dozen police cars parked outside a home on their street.

"I've heard a gunshot or two in this neighborhood before, but it's gotten worse in the last year," said neighbor Michael Church.

When he heard a child was hit, Church was shocked.

“They got to stop with what they doing. Now a 12-year-old's life is at stake. That’s real bad. I can’t stand it. I can't stand that," he said.

Neighbors say they used to see the child playing football in the yard outside his home. They say they hope they see him home again doing that very soon.

Cobb County police reported the child is stable but remains in critical condition at the Scottish Rite Children's Hospital of Atlanta.

Officials are asking anyone who may have information about the shooting to please contact Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit at 770-499-3945.
