MARIETTA, Ga. - A 3-year-old Marietta boy reported missing Wednesday afternoon has died after being found unresponsive in a nearby lake.
Marietta Police said they were called out to the 1200 block of Powder Springs Street just after 3 p.m. after a report of a missing child. Police officers were joined by deputies with the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office searching the area for the young child.
Police said about a half hour after first responding, the boy was found in Reeves Lake near the shore. He was rushed to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The body of the boy will undergo an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of the young child's death.
