3 ideas for picking a credit card

The great thing about picking out a credit card these days is all of the choices. An overwhelming thing about this is also all of the choices. So how do you decide which card is best for you? Let's simplify that decision.

No matter what card you choose you must always, 100 percent, do this first.

#1 Know your credit score

You can then search for cards that fall in line with your number. Example: You have great score of 750 then you search "credit cards" and "excellent credit." That eliminates a lot of card offers. Don't overthink this element.

#2 Decide what type of card you need

There are a few options, but let's talk about these three: a card that will help you improve your credit; a card that lets you pay twice a month to save on interest; or, a card that offers rewards. If one of these sounds good to you then narrow the field to that one. Keep it simple.

#3 What do you want to get back

Many people want something back from their card - like rewards, travel or cash. If you don't travel much then you know which one you can chuck. If you know you'd like rewards or would like to earn cash on purchases then this is a great fit.

Listen, do your research, but don't overthink it or you'll be stuck staring at the screen forever.
