ATLANTA - The father of a little boy who desperately needs a kidney transplant underwent tests to prepare for donation on Friday.
Anthony Dickerson arrived at Emory University Hospital to make sure he is ready to donate a kidney to his son, A.J. burgess.
The 3-year-old was born without kidneys and must receive nightly dialysis just to survive.
Dickerson was accompanied to this first round of tests by a transplant mentor who will help guide him through the process.
Hospital officials were initially hesitant to green-light Dickerson as a donor because of his past problems with the law.
