Good Day anchors compete in soccer challenge

Today marks the 30-day countdown to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. For 32 days, the greatest soccer players on planet Earth will take center stage in Russia and on Fox and Fox Sports 1.

It all begins on June 14th and concludes with a new world champion being crowned on July 15th. The Good Day Atlanta team just couldn’t wait until next month to get our soccer fix, so we decided to take a field trip to the Five Points Marta Station.

I know, I know, you’re thinking what in the world does the downtown Atlanta train station have to do with the World Cup?  The answer, perhaps more than you think.

When is the last time you’ve been down to Five Points? Have you noticed the miniature soccer field adjacent to the station, which just happens to be the world’s first soccer pitch at a train station? Well, we had to go down there and see it for ourselves.

It is the home field for Soccer in the Streets, an Atlanta based organization that according to Phil Hill, “works with kids from underserved communities, goals with giving them a better chance in life by giving them access to new opportunities and we use soccer.”

Now as important as that mission is, nothing could have prepared the good folks at Soccer in the Street, for the Good Day Atlanta soccer challenge.

Always a good time with the Good Day gang whether inside or outside the Fox 5 studio.
