Atlanta shooting leaves teenager dead inside Judy Lane home

The deadly shooting of a 16-year-old boy inside a southwest Atlanta home is under investigation.

It happened around 6:45 p.m. in the 100 block of Judy Lane. According to Atlanta Police Homicide Commander Lt. Andrew Smith, officers who arrived at the scene found the boy dead from an apparent gunshot wound inside the home.

Investigators spent the evening combing through evidence to find out what could have led up to the shooting.

"We're talking with the family right now, and they are shedding some light on the situation and the circumstances, but right now we don't have a clear motive," APD Homicide Commander Lt. Andrew Smith Said.

Police say the teen, who has not been identified, was at home alone at the time of the shooting.

Keedah Neeley, a neighbor, says it is senseless violence. "I'm devastated for the kid, and I'm devastated for his family," said Neeley.
