A thief targeted a Marietta non-profit group stealing a vital piece of equipment used to help the organization.

The Davis Direction Organization posted photos over the weekend on their Facebook page showing a man in a blue pickup truck cut locks and hook up a trailer from the non-profit’s Re-Zone Thrift Store.

The trailer was parked out front of the store and was filled with various items.

The theft happened Saturday morning just before 7 a.m.

The organization said in addition to their day-to-day needs of the trailer, they also needed it to transport items to the Marietta Performing Arts Center for their 4th annual Gala this Sunday.

The foundation was formed to honor 21-year-old David H. Owens who died in 2014 from a drug overdose. The foundation seeks to help raise opiate/heroin addiction awareness, promote change in laws and attitudes, and revamp the rehabilitation process.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Marietta Police.
