A woman was found shot to death inside her car Friday afternoon at a busy Gwinnett County shopping center, police said.

What we know:

According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, officers were called around 3 p.m. to the Promenade at Pleasant Hill Shopping Center at 1625 Pleasant Hill Road after 911 callers reported gunfire.

"When they arrived on scene they located a deceased female with an apparent gunshot wound," said Cpl. Angela Carter.

SKYFOX 5 flew over the scene shortly after 4 p.m. to find a large police presence surrounding a white vehicle in the parking lot.

Investigators believe the shooting was domestic-related

Homicide detectives interviewed several witnesses and began reviewing surveillance video from nearby businesses.

"This is a pretty populated area. There were multiple witnesses that remained on scene and are actively being interviewed by homicide detectives," Carter said.

What they're saying:

Witnesses told FOX 5 the woman worked at BioLife Plasma Services, which had a handwritten "Closed" sign posted on the door Friday afternoon. Employees could be seen in the parking lot consoling one another as police worked the scene.

What we don't know:

Authorities have not said who was killed or what led to the deadly incident at the Promenade at Pleasant Hills shopping center. 

Police have not confirmed whether any suspects are in custody or if the public faces any ongoing danger. 

No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been pubically named.
