CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - Most of the arrests at this year's Riverbend Festival in Chattanooga were for underage drinking.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports that 30 of the 36 arrests were alcohol related, and that 24 of them were minors.
Police spokesman Rob Simmons says some of the underage drinkers were consuming alcohol before entering the festival, while others may have obtained booze from acquaintances who were of the legal drinking age.
The other arrests were for disorderly conduct, felony vandalism and assault on police or resisting arrest.
This year's arrests were up from 17 in 2016, 23 in 2014 and seven in 2013.
No weapons charges were issued. It was the second year that attendees with handgun carry permits were allowed to be armed at the festival as long they weren't drinking.
