ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - We are heading into the weekend with rain becoming likely and the risk of a wintry mix briefly in some parts of the north Georgia mountains Saturday evening.
While most of North Georgia will experience a chilly rain over the weekend, some of the higher elevations in extreme North Georgia can expect a brief couple of hours of rain mixed with sleet and snow Saturday evening near and after sunset.
Saturday likely starts out dry, with a few showers developing in the afternoon.
The steady rain moves in after 4pm and falls for most of Saturday night.
By Sunday, the heaviest rain is moving on, but clouds and scattered showers will linger during the day.
Rainfall totals will average 1/2" to 3/4" for most of north Georgia.
