Light rain lingers Sunday as storm cleanup continues

- In the wake of Saturday's strong storms, folks in metro Atlanta woke up to downed trees, power outages and light showers Sunday morning.

Thunderstorms moved through Atlanta and the surrounding area Saturday night. The storms moved from south to north at 15mph.

FOX 5 Meteorologist Ryan Beesley says the light showers will fade by early Sunday afternoon, but hit or miss T-Showers are still possible. The storms this afternoon won’t be a washout, but a brief downpour is possible. Don’t expect a lot of sunshine today, but areas that see some sunshine will be warmer than those that remain covered in clouds.

Saturday’s storms brought heavy rain, lightning, and winds up to 50 mph to the area. The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Watch For Towns, Union, Lumpkin, White, Hambersham and Raburn Counties until 2am Monday.

FOX 5 is following reports of storm damage and power outages due to yesterday's storms. DeKalb County is reporting over 40 trees are down. Thousands of homes are without power as well in Atlanta, and in surrounding cities.
