ATLANTA - Wet and cooler weather is taking hold Wednesday. Scattered morning rain will give way to mostly cloudy to overcast skies for the remainder of the day.
Fewer showers or only patches of light rain will be expected for the late morning and afternoon.
Temperatures will peak today early in the afternoon before dropping later today. This will be followed by chillier air tonight and a bigger wave of steady, soaking rain that will happen overnight and into early Thursday.
During the day Thursday, rain will shift southeast, but lots of cloudiness will remain behind. Most areas will experience high temperatures only in the 50s.
Rainfall amounts today will generally be light, but totals through Thursday will run near 1/2"-1" for some. This will be beneficial, needed rainfall for north Georgia.
