ATHENS, Ga. - A rookie running back less than a year after knee surgery and a veteran linebacker who has come back from multiple knee surgeries head the list of former UGA players selected for the NFL Pro Bowl.
St. Louis Rams running back Todd Gurley and Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis are among the selections for the 2016 Pro Bowl roster announced by the league Tuesday.
They join 3 other former Bulldogs players: Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston, Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Geno Atkins and Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green.
Gurley earned the honor after rushing for 1,023 yards and 9 touchdowns in 14 games of his rookie season.
Davis, who was selected earlier this year as the NFL’s Man of the Year, earned his 1st Pro Bowl selection in his 11th season after making 97 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 3 interceptions and 6 pass breakups.
Houston who has missed his last 4 games with a hyperextended knee got his 5th Pro Bowl selection after making 30 tackles, 7.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 2 interceptions
Atkins also got his 5th selection with 10 sacks, 39 tackles and 1 forced fumble.
Green has 77 receptions for 1,206 yards and 8 touchdowns to get his 6th Pro Bowl nod.
