McClendon becomes 3rd UGA Commit in 3 Days

Months before the first football signing date of the season, the Georgia Bulldogs have picked up some big momentum with their third commitment in three days.

Monday, the Dawgs landed Brunswick high school offensive tackle Warren McClendon. The 247 Sports four-star prospect chose Georgia over South Carolina, Florida, Auburn, and others.

“Just growing up Georgia and with Coach [Sam] Pittman it just felt like home,” McClendon told Rusty Mansell. “It just felt like home.”

Offensive line coach Sam Pittman was the lead recruiter for UGA on McClendon and he told that Georgia coach not too long ago about his final decision.

“I told him a week ago, he was really happy,” he said to Mansell.

Having family connections to South Carolina, McClendon says everyone let him make his own decision in the end and it was a good thing.

“They were just happy for me, just really happy,” he said.

The commitment comes following Saturday’s announcement that former five-star wide receiver Demetris Robertson will transfer to Georgia from California, and Sunday night’s commitment by three-star defensive tackle Zion Logue from Tennessee.

He is currently rated as the No.25 overall best offensive tackle prospect.

With this commitment, it will give the Georgia Bulldogs their 12th verbal commit and will push them further into the Top Ten on the 247Sports Composite team rankings.

It is not known yet if he will early enrollee at UGA.

McClendon becomes the second offensive tackle commitment in the last month for UGA in the 2019 class joining Xavier Truss, who verbally committed to Pittman on June 17th.

According to the 247Sports timeline on his recruiting profile, McClendon received an offer from Georgia on Nov. 29, 2016 from UGA Head Coach Kirby Smart. He visited Georgia unofficially and camped at least seven times in the last four years. South Carolina received the second most visits according to his profile.
