This week’s Game of the Week was so hot that Hillgrove Head Coach Phillip Ironside was barefoot on the sideline for much of action against home team West Forsyth.

It was cloudy, but when it cleared, the Wolverines of West Forsyth turned on the jets with Grant Torgerson making the first score. It was a game where Wolverine’s quarterback Kiernen Hamilton was looking real good showing HIGH 5 Sports his throwing arm all night long. Hamilton was able to hook up Zachary Burns with the ball for a 38-yard touchdown making it a 14-0 game for the Wolverines early.

The West Forsyth defense was also on fire. Thomas Arundale picked up a fumble and ran it in for a 60-yard touchdown making the score 21-0 with 6:50 left in the 1st.

But the Hawks weren’t about to walk away with goose egg. Mason Marshall breaks on the outside and runs it in for a 69-yard touchdown.

Torgerson responded taking it in one more time before the half, giving the Wolverines a 42-21 lead.

Hillgrove couldn’t make up the lost ground after the half, giving the Wolverines a 56-35 win on their homecoming night.

West Forsyth Head Coach Adam Clack described this as a launching pad.

“We got a lot of high expectations for this football team. We have guys back, healthy this week. We have not played our best football yet, right. I put that back on the coaches and the plan,” Clack said about his victory this week. “And this week, I felt really good about our plan. The kids prepared like crazy. And it was just fun to see it all come together. And I feel like it is going to propel us forward.”

“We're feeling great right. This is an awesome win after a devastating loss last week to Pace where we could not finish because of the rain,” said Arundale, who was a pivotal part of the Wolverine’s defense.

But the big question HIGH 5’s Bill Hartman had for outside linebacker was if he thought his team could keep it going.

“Hell yeah, we can!” a confident Arundale exclaimed.

The Wolverines head to Dacula next week to take on the Falcons (1-1) while the Hawks host the Campbell Spartans (0-3).
