Eagle's Landing Christian wins GHSA Private title
ATLANTA (AP) — Josh Mays scored on a 1-yard run in the second overtime to give defending champion and No. 1-ranked Eagle's Landing Christian a 34-27 victory over No. 4 Fellowship Christian in the Georgia High School Association's Class A Private football championship Friday at the Georgia Dome.
Fellowship Christian failed to score on its possession in the second overtime. The game ended when quarterback Jack Hardin's fourth-down pass was incomplete.
It was the fourth state championship for Eagle's Landing Christian (14-0) and extended the Chargers' winning streak to 23 games. Fellowship Christian (13-1) lost in its first trip to the championship game.
Fellowship Christian took the lead with 2:08 left in the game on Merrick Haigler's 4-yard run, but Eagle's Landing Christian sent the game to overtime on Alex Usry's 30-yard field goal with six seconds remaining.
The teams exchanged field goals in the first overtime. Fellowship's Garrett Depew kicked a 30-yarder and Eagle's Landing's Usry kicked a 27-yarder.

Eagle's Landing was led by Trevor Gear, who rushed 14 times for 102 yards and one touchdown. Quarterback Brayden Rush completed 7 of 16 passes for 78 yards, but threw two interceptions. Tre Douglas caught six passes for 69 yards.
Fellowship Christian's Hardin completed 14 of 21 passes for 144 yards and rushed 20 times for 70 yards and two touchdowns. Andrew Johnson rushed 20 times for 101 yards.
