"Frenchy" all smiles at Spring Training

Jeff Francoeur is back in the fold with the Braves. The 12-year MLB veteran hit the cages at the team's Spring Training headquarters Wednesday morning, spending more time hugging and shaking hands than hitting. "Frenchy" as he's known to most people, started his career with the Braves after being drafted out of Parkview High School with the 23rd overall pick in the 2002 amateur draft.

Francoeur spent five seasons in Atlanta before being traded to the Mets during the 2009 season. He went on to play with six other major league teams, most recently hitting 13 homeruns for the Phillies in 2015.

The 32-year old outfielder had other options, but chose to sign a minor league deal with the Braves that included a Spring Training invite. The Braves are hoping he can provide some depth in the outfield.

Justin Felder is covering the Braves as they prepare for Grapefruit League games at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex. He spoke with the fan favorite from Lilburn before Wednesday's workout.
