ORLANDO, Fla. - Can we get Atlanta United’s season started already?
All this talk of Atlanta United's acquisition of 18-year-old phenomena Ezequiel Barco has many ready for their encore season.
Barco arrived in training camp in the Orlando area Wednesday ready to rock.
“It went well. A little tired from not having done anything recently, but I think it went well,” Barco told FOX 5’s Cody Chaffins through a translator. “It feels good. It feels like home being with my new teammates. They're doing everything they can to make me feel at home.”
“Yeah, he's my roommate so we've been talking and I’m getting to know him, he's getting to me, just like I’m getting to know all the new teammates, but like I said, I think the group's going to everything we can to get him situated with the team as best as possible,” Miguel Almiron, Atlanta United Midfielder, told FOX 5’s Cody Chaffins through a translator. “He left as a champion from Independiente and he was playing in a very competitive league, so I don't think there's any pressure at all.”
“Yeah, actually, sometimes you know there more than, it's not just him who is 18, you know there's some other guys that are like 17, 16, you know so. I'm 24 now which is kind of weird to think about me saying as my second year as an old guy kind of thing,” said Julian Gressel, Atlanta United Midfielder.
“No, there's old players than me,” Almiron said responding to the question of if he’s the “old man” on the team now.
Atlanta United's first game is Feb. 10 in Nashville and are on the road for the rest of the month. Their first home game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium is March 11 against D.C. United.
