Braves' Swanson out for Red Sox finale after hit on helmet

- Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson was out of the starting lineup for Wednesday’s home finale against Boston after being hit on his helmet Tuesday night.

Swanson was hit by an 85-mph slider from Boston starter Rick Porcello in the second inning of Tuesday night’s 5-1 loss to Boston.

Swanson was knocked to the ground but rose quickly before a member of the Braves’ medical staff examined him.

Braves Manager Brian Snitker said Swanson had ringing in his ears but “passed all the tests” and will not be placed in concussion protocol.

Charlie Culberson who entered as a pinch-runner and remained in Tuesday’s game at shortstop started Wednesday afternoon’s game in place of Swanson.
