Braves hold first workout for pitchers and catchers

The Braves are back on the field for spring training. The team held their first official workout for pitchers and catchers on Wednesday at Disney's Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

"It's always good to get the first one over with," said Braves manager Brian Snitker. "You get some loose energy going. It was a really productive workout."

Some position players like outfielders Ender Inciarte and top prospect Ronald Acuna arrived early -- position players are required to check in early next week.

The pitchers and catchers present plenty of intrigue on their own, especially as the team works to figure out who will be part of its starting rotation. The team has established starters like Julio Teheran, young pitchers with some experience like Aaron Blair and prospects looking for their first chances like Mike Soroka and Max Fried.

"That's why you get so excited here," said manager Brian Snitker. "You remember where guys were when the season ended and you can't wait to get back out there to see if they're going to take a step forward or build on what you saw last year."

FOX 5's Ken Rodriguez will be at spring training early next week for the first full-squad workout.
