Braves Announce Dansby Swanson to Make MLB Debut

After trading away shortstop Erick Aybar to the Detroit Tigers, the Atlanta Braves made an announcement via Twitter that they will purchase the contract of minor league shortstop Dansby Swanson.

Swanson was the number one overall pick of the 2015 draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks and came to Atlanta via a trade that sent Shelby Miller to Arizona prior to the 2016 season.

Swanson is a graduate of Marietta High School and played college baseball at Vanderbilt University. Swanson spent the first part of the season with the Carolina Mudcats, the Braves Class High-A minor league affiliate, before being moved to the Mississippi Braves, the Braves Class AA affiliate. In his time at AA Mississippi, Swanson has had a .261 batting average with 8 home runs and 45 runs batted in.
