World's top golfer Jordan Spieth having a rough weekend

The world's number one ranked golfer is off to a rough start this weekend. Jordan Spieth shot a first round 79 at the Northern Trust Open, leaving him 8-over par and 16 shots behind the leader, Camilo Villegas.

Spieth has never shot a worse first round score as a pro. And it came at a course that Spieth considers one of his favorites, Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles.

In all, 144 players teed off in the first round. Only one shot a higher score than Spieth.

And when Spieth headed out to the driving range Friday morning, things didn't look much better. A spectator captured video of Spieth hitting a tee marker as he was practicing.

Spieth needs a big rally to make the cut. But after Thursday's round, he insisted, "I'm not throwing this tournament away. I'm not packing it in by any means."
