A woman accused of killing her own friend is expected to go to court Wednesday morning.

Police say 27-year-old Tyra Ealy allegedly shot the woman inside a Southwest Atlanta apartment complex on Tuesday.

The shooting happened in the 900 block of Sells Avenue about 1 p.m.

Atlanta police said officers found a woman shot several times at the scene. The woman did not surive her wounds.

After an investigation, detectives determined Ealy and the victim knew each other. They say the two got into an argument that escalated into gunfire.

A neighbor, who was afraid to show their face on camera due to the shooting, said Ealy and the victim "were best friends."

Ealy was booked into the Fulton County Jail on a felony murder charge Tuesday evening.

Investigators determined the woman was not a student, but her name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
