Decatur Police are warning early morning walkers and joggers to be on alert. Investigators said a woman was grabbed by a man while she was running early Thursday morning.

Police said the woman was jogging down Glendale Avenue just before 6 a.m. She turned onto Ponce De Leon Avenue and saw a man in his 30s about 6 feet tall with a muscular build walking from the opposite direction. She told police she tried to run around him, but he grabbed her arm, then "forcefully slapped her on the buttocks". Investigators said the woman started screaming and the man casually walked away. Police said he is now wanted for sexual battery.

"It's pretty scary I wouldn't like it if that happened to me or anyone else in the neighborhood," said Andrea Chiriboga.

Word of what happened quickly circulated on social media and neighbors are on alert.

"If you know these things it makes you aware, look around, be aware, pay attention to your surroundings," said one neighbor.

They're hoping this guy is caught before he encounters someone else.

"When you don't feel safe in your own neighborhood that's sad," said Maria Zorrilla.
