ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A 27-year old woman has been charged with arson in connection with an apartment fire in southeast Atlanta Thursday.
Atlanta fire investigators said Octavia Carter was taken into custody and charged with first-degree arson.
Firefighters were dispatched to the Forest Cove Apartments along New Town Circle around 10:16 a.m. Thursday. Investigators said there was a domestic dispute at the site before the fire started and neighbors saw a person flee the apartment.
Initially, there were concerns children were in danger in the apartments, but that turned out to not be true.
The Red Cross said seven united were damaged in the fire. They helped about 25 people displaced find lodging, food, and clothing.
No word on Carter’s next court appearance or if she has a lawyer.
