Wild L.A. chase has unexpected, but peaceful end

- A Mustang convertible led authorities in Los Angeles on a wild ride Thursday afternoon.

FOX 11 Los Angeles reported that a Mustang with two people inside was speeding down the 101 Freeway. Shortly after choppers for TV station spotted the vehicle, it was doing donuts on a bridge and at one point tried to get the roof of the convertible up because of the rain, but it became stuck.

The chase eventually wound its way into Laurel Canyon. Along the way, the passenger was seen standing up on the seat, as if he were surfing.

The Mustang eventually got back on the freeway where it ran into some traffic and eventually a TMZ Tour Bus. The car was briefly blocked in before traffic thinned out allowing the chase continued.

Eventually, one of the tires on the car ended up flat.

 

Close to an hour into the chase, the Mustang exited on the surface streets and begins to follow the rules of the road again, stopping for several red lights.

An officer attempted to deploy stop sticks a bit late as the Mustang continues to stop at red lights.

The vehicle entered a soutwest Los Angeles County neighborhood, slowed down and appeared to be having a conversation with a car in the other lane.

The driver then stopped the car, got out and around to the hood of the car where he leaned for a bit. He eventually appeared to be greeted by several people on the street. At one point, the driver went around to the passenger side of the car and took a selfie.

Authorities told several media outlets that they waited to apprehend the pair because the amount of people in the area. The two eventually appeared to comply with officers' orders and surrendered peacefully.

 

FOX 11 Los Angeles reported that police want to stop the vehicle in connection to a possible burglary or home invasion.

A third person was also taken into custody. Their names and charges were not released Thursday afternoon.
