Burglars smashed glass display cases to steal guns during a break-in at Emergency Pawn in Covington.

The break-in happened around 4 a.m. Saturday at the business on Highway 278 in Covington, police said. FOX 5’s Portia Bruner spoke to employees at shop who were frustrated about the crime.

“They used a cinder block or something like that to break through the tempered glass at the front of the shop and then they just kept smashing the glass at the cases until they could get what they wanted,” said store manager Kaitlin Burkett. “They were in and out and less with 17 handguns in less than two minutes.”

Surveillance video shows two burglars breaking display cases with a hammer, sending shattered glass into the air.

“The scary part is that you just never know where the guns will end up. Obviously these guys are up to no good. I just hope someone will tell the police who they are so that police can get them off the street,” said co-manager Stephen Glazener.

Employees said the burglars left their hammers in the store before taking off on foot. A third person acted as a lookout outside the store.

“Obviously these guys are bold and don’t care about the fact that their faces were showing when they broke into a pawn shop that had cameras,” said Covington Police Officer Allan Seebaran. “We have to get these guns ofd the streets before they are used to commit other crimes.”
