VIDEO: Driver fights against carjackers

Fayette County deputies release surveillance video of two violent carjackers, in the hopes the public can help identify the individuals who authorities said fought and pointed two guns at a driver for his car.

Deputies said the incident happened Thursday night in the parking lot of the Texaco gas station and  Welcome Pantry off Highway 138 at the Fayette and Clayton County border.

Deputies said the driver, shortly after arriving at the convenience store, is seen on video being stalked by a blue Chevy Lumina without hubcaps. Surveillance shows one of the men get out of the car, then ambush the driver upon his return; deputies said the robber tried to unsuccessfully steal the man's car keys, while the driver wrestled to fight back.

"One of the occupants of the Lumina tells the victim, stop fighting, I'll shoot you, and brandishes a weapon," said Captain Ethon Harper of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office. Deputies said both men brandished large handguns, then the victim surrendered the keys.

Both robbers drove off. The victim's vehicle is described as a 2010 white Chevy Cobalt.

Anyone with information on the suspect's vehicle, the robber caught on surveillance, or the second gunman (described as a heavy-set male) is asked to call Fayette County deputies, or individuals can call Crime Stoppers for a reward up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest.
