Veterans Day 2015: Heroes Honored Across Metro Atlanta

Every year we set aside a day to honor Americans who have served in the military. In honor of Wednesday being Veterans Day, observances and events are being held across north Georgia.

Restaurants and businesses are also offering deals for active duty and retired military personnel. Click here to view the Veterans Day discounts and freebies list.

2015 Veterans Day Ceremonies: 

Cumming: Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. at the City's Veterans War Memorial (will include a 21-gun salute, "Amazing Grace" and more)  

Douglas County: 16th annual Douglas County Veterans Day Lighted Parade. This is the only known nighttime lighted Veterans Day Parade in the Nation. The parade begins at 7:00 p.m. at Douglas County High School.

Gwinnett County: Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. at the Gwinnett Fallen Heroes Memorial. Annual event includes a special recognition of all veterans. 

Marietta: 11th Annual Marietta Veterans Day Parade at 11:00 a.m. at Roswell Street Baptist Church. Parade loops through Marietta Square and ends between the new Cobb Courthouse and Marietta City Hall. Ceremony will follow at noon. 

Snellville: Annual Veterans Day event. Ceremony starts at 7:30 p.m. on the Towne Green, just yard away from the Veterans Memorial

Suwanee: Local Suwanee Schlotzky's will hold a flag raising ceremony at 3:00 p.m. Free meals will be offered to all uniformed ROTC students, active military and veterans from 3-6:00 p.m.
