Van slams into popular chain steakhouse in Savannah

A van crashed into a popular chain restaurant in the Savannah late Friday night sending several people to the hospital.

It happened on Abercorn Street. A kitchen ceiling collapsed, a gas line ruptured, and seven people were rushed to an area hospital, according to authorities.

Two of those rushed to the hospital suffered burns, one a broken arm, and a pregnant woman was hurt by the damaged ceiling.

Police are trying to determine what caused the van to strike the building.

The name of the driver and their condition was not immediately available. It was not immediately known if the driver would face charges.
