UGA student killed after wrong-way accident

A University of Georgia student was killed Friday morning as she walked away from a single-car accident on the GA 10 outer loop, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

19-year-old Bridget Thompson was killed after driving on the wrong side of the road, crashing her vehicle, walking away from the crash, and being hit by a truck in the right-hand lane of the GA 10 outer loop, according to police.

56-year-old Timothy Mark Rodgers was the driver of the Ford F-250 pickup truck and claims that he did not see the female until it was too late to stop, and he struck her when she entered the right-hand lane, according to police.

The incident occurred at 4 a.m. on Friday. Rodgers was not injured in the incident.
