BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. - A Cartersville couple is behind bars after giving false statements to Bartow county police about a stabbing.
According to the Bartow County Sheriff's office, Ervine Garvey, 36, and his girlfriend Myrna Mason, 42, both gave the police details about Garvey being stabbed at a car wash.
Police investigators checked surveillance video and discovered that the Garvey was not at the car wash on Evergreen Trail during the time of the alleged stabbing.
When the couple was confronted with the new information, they changed their story and said the stabbing happened behind Mason's home. His girlfriend went on to say she didn't see the stabbing because she was inside the house at the time.
Police do not know what ultimately led to the assault but they know Garvey was not a victim of armed robbery at the car wash as he told police.
Garvey and Mason were both booked into the Bartow County Jail. Myrna Mason is now out on bond, but Garvey is still in custody for violating his probation.
