RALEIGH, N.C. - Emergency crews in North Carolina had their hands full on Tuesday morning after a tractor-trailer carrying over 2,200 piglets overturned.
The News & Observer reported that it happened along westbound Interstate 40 near downtown Raleigh around 10 a.m. Officials were seen wrangling some of the piglets that got loose because of the accident.
The road was closed for several hours to allow for the cleanup. Officials said they believe rain was a factor in the accident.
Officials told the News & Observer that only about 15 percent of pigs survived.
The truck driver was reportedly uninjured.
