Frigid temps prompt black ice, frostbite concerns

Frigid air has moved in across all of North Georgia Saturday morning. Actual air temperatures will stay at or below freezing for most of the day, and with winds out of the northwest, wind chills will be dangerously low.

A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect until noon on Sunday for wind chill reading of 5 below zero to 10 above zero. Be sure to dress in layers, and cover all exposed skin if planning to be outside for an extended period of time.

A Winter Weather Advisory is effect until noon for Rabun and Habersham County for widespread black ice and dangerous travel this morning.

Black ice will also be a concern in areas north of Atlanta that received snow. Areas in and around metro Atlanta will only see isolated slick spots early this morning.

Sunny skies will only warm temperatures into the low to mid 30s on Sunday, but warmer air will return by the end next week. In fact we could see temperatures near 70 by Friday!
