Crews in the middle of repair work on a culvert ended up causing a water main break Friday morning. Service has since been restored.

“When they went to set their box for the culvert, their machine tipped over a little bit and the machine cracks our water main,” says Chris Boyd, Water Utilities Manager with the City of Roswell.

Around 11:30 a.m., people near the worksite on Pine Grove Road near Lake Charles Drive lost access to water.

“At the time my brother went to the bathroom to shower and shave to get ready for his date,” said Julian Yowell, 23. “We tried to turn the shower on and the water wasn't working.”

The Yowells suspected the outage had something to do with the work up the road.

“We walked down, came down water just bursting. We joked with them, 'If you guys don't get it fixed we're going to have to come back down and take a shower here.”

Forty-five minutes later, 21-year-old Oliver Yowell went to the geyser and started his cleanse. He had a first date planned with a young lady he hadn't seen since high school.

Julian Yowell grabbed his cell phone to record the action.

“Sure enough he came down, brought the shampoo, conditioner and body wash and hopped right in.”

City workers don't advise such moves because of the heavy machinery in the work zone.

As for the road project, detours should be removed within the next couple of weeks.

FOX 5's Kerry Charles reached out to Oliver Yowell, but his phone kept going to voicemail. Julian Yowell says his brother took his date hiking.
