The Dream Forward Community Service Awards

ATLANTA - The King Center kicked off its 2018 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday observation with an awards ceremony.

The Dream Forward Community Service Awards were presented this evening in Downtown Atlanta.

The awards are presented to people and groups that have made significant impacts in their communities.

Among those honored Tuesday night was Lorraine Johnson of the Atlanta Daily World, the city's longest-running African-American newspaper.

Among the others honored the event were the Georgia Justice Project, the Latin American Association, and Rev. Tim McDonald.
