Texas zoo opens baby gift registry for expecting orangutans

If you want a baby in your life but now’s just not the right time, here’s your chance to spoil a newborn without all the work.

Mei and KJ, two orangutans at the Cameron Park Zoo in Waco, Texas have their very own gift registry for the baby ape they’re expecting in January.

There are over 400 items available online through Target, ranging from movies like “The Princess Bride” and “Frozen”, classic kids’ books like “Good Night Moon” and Dr. Suess’ “Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?”, and even albums by Dolly Parton, Adele and Simon and Garfunkel. There are also more traditional baby items listed like plush toys, clothes, bedding, baby monitors, towels and a spinning crib mobile.

Feeling especially generous? The expectant couple is also asking for a GoPro HERO Session for $200. A true ape lover could consider buying the pricey item on the condition that the zoo sets up a 24-hour baby orangutan webcam.
