A family portrait has extra special meaning for one Texas family.
Laura and Tony McBride didn’t think it would ever be possible to have a family photo after their three children died at birth. One day, Laura came across an article about Georgia-based photographer Brandy Angel. Last October, Angel created a touching photo for Anna Bozman Thompson, a metro Atlanta mother who had lost her son to cancer. An image of the little boy was photoshopped into one of Thompson’s wedding photos.
"I needed this picture more than she or anyone could ever know. THIS is my family. And we will be together again," Thompson said.
Laura McBride reached out to Angel after reading the article to inquire about taking photos. Turns out, Angel was already going to be in Texas nearby over Thanksgiving to visit a friend and take pictures of another family.
“I knew God had led her to me,” McBride said on Facebook. “Talk about God working in mysterious ways.”
Meanwhile, Tony had no clue what his wife was planning. He thought they were simply taking pictures.
“What you see is our family. Me, Tony, our two sons, Christopher and Tyler, and our baby girl, Kieran Shane. This picture shows that although not here physically, I believe they are with us every day,” McBride said.
Shortly after creating Thompson’s photos, Angel said New Jersey web designer Heather Pinheiro reached out to her and said she could help photoshop any images if ever needed. They have worked together on several pictures now, free of charge.
“I am proud to share this photo, but this right here, is my life...different from most, but what I carry with me every minute of every day. Brandy would never ask for public acknowledgement, but what a gift she gives to those of us who long for such a family photo,” McBride said.
