Teenage Girl Shot For a Hoverboard

Atlanta Police said a 16-year-old girl was robbed and shot for her hoverboard.

Around 6 p.m., officers said the teenager and a friend were walking home from the convenience store to the Hidden Hollow Apartments on Fairburn Road, when two robbers followed them.

Police said the girl and the friend tried to slam the front door on a robber, and even threw the hoverboard at them; the robber fired a shot and struck the girl in her lower back.

Police said the teenager is in good condition.

A 19-year-old friend inside the apartment told FOX 5 her friend is okay.

"It's crazy. Over a hoverboard. Really?" said the 19-year-old's mother, Sherica Davis, who came to pick her daughter up from the crime scene.

Authorities searched the area with a helicopter.

No word on a description for the two robbers.
