SWAT standoff at DeKalb County motel

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - A SWAT standoff at a DeKalb County motel after police said a person was shot and killed and the gunman ran inside one of the rooms.

It started around 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Candler Inn near the intersection of Candler Road and Ember Drive off Interstate 20. DeKalb County Police said they responded to a report of a person shot.

Officers were told the gunman ran into one of the rooms and was still armed. The standoff ended around 10:30 p.m. after the SWAT team made entry into the room. Police said no one was in the room.

The victim died at the scene, according to police.

No names have been released.
