ATLANTA - Atlanta police said a report of a barricaded gunman at a northwest Atlanta apartment was false.
Officers responded to the 2500 block of Etheridge Drive Tuesday morning after receiving the report of three people in the apartment, one possible with a gun. Officers called out the SWAT team, but when they got into the apartment, police said they only found a man.
That man, whose name has not yet been released, was taken into custody. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
Police said the man, who is in his early 30s, could face charges of making a false report.
Investigators said they are looking into if drugs played a role in this incident.
