Suspicious package shuts down Mall of Georgia

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - A suspicious package sparked an evacuation Thursday at the Mall of Georgia.

It happened around noon at Dillard’s.

Police said the package was addressed to a female employee.

She opened it on Wednesday, then got sick hours later and was rushed to the hospital.

Thursday, a co-worker found the package and called 911.

The HAZMAT team conducted several tests and determined it was harmless.

The mall re-opened two hours later.
