BROOKHAVEN, Ga. - Police are searching for two armed thieves accused of disguising themselves as old men as they robbed a Brookhaven jewelry store.
Surveillance video shows a couple of old guys walking down Dresden Drive. They're slightly hunched over, they have wrinkled faces and bald heads. But it's all an act.
Brookhaven Police said they appeared to be wearing Hollywood grade masks.
Police said the two played the part well, right down to their walk.
"The way they were walking, they appeared to be elderly males, one appeared to be the caretaker of the other male," said Brookhaven Police Officer Carlos Nino.
Just before noon Tuesday, police said the two men buzzed their way into Ermitage Jewelers, pepper-sprayed the employees and held them at gunpoint. Police said they forced another employee to unlock the safes and display cases while they stuffed Rolex watches and jewelry into bags.
Nancy Burrow lives nearby. She said she saw the employees right after the crooks left with the loot.
"The employees were very scared, I heard one say out loud 'I thought I was going to die', they were wiping pepper spray from their faces," said Burrow.
Kevin Archer works a couple of doors down. He saw the police activity and was worried about everyone in the jewelry store.
"I was just really hoping no one was hurt and the robbers got what they wanted and left," said Archer.
The owner of Ermitage Jewelers is offering a $10,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the robbers.
