Some Atlanta officers say it's too risky to send forces to Cleveland

- The Atlanta police chief is sending nearly 50 officers to Cleveland to help secure the Republican National Convention.

Those officers volunteered for the duty. Now, some of them believe it is too risky for Atlanta to go ahead with the deployment because of the current security situation at home, especially those street protests.

There are 48 who are going and they will be gone for eight days.

A union representative said some officers now want to stay at home, backing out of the commitment.

Ken Allen told city council members Wednesday afternoon the supervisor of the Cleveland detail warned officers they now have to go or face discipline of insubordination.
