ATLANTA - A shot was fired at an Atlanta police officer as four suspects ran from officers during a chase early Thursday morning.
A man flagged down police around 1 a.m. after he said he was robbed at a parking lot on Piedmont Road. Responding officers spotted the suspects' vehicle fleeing, which led to a chase.
The pursuit started on Interstate 75 and continued on Moores Mills Road. The chase ended when the suspects drove down Devonshire Place and reached a cul-de-sac, where they hit a dead end.
According to police, all four suspects bailed out of the car and started running on foot. Police said as those suspects were running away, one of them fired a shot an officer. No one was injured.
Police established a perimeter and called in tactical units as well as K9 officers to assist in the search for the suspects. They quickly caught one man behind a house.
Police said about a half hour later, a K9 tracked down a second suspect in a wooded area. Then, about two hours later, they caught a third suspect on the edge of the search perimeter.
The fourth suspect remains at large. Investigators believe the suspect escaped the perimeter they set up, so the Georgia State Patrol is keeping an eye on the interstate.
