VILLA RICA, Ga. - A shootout between two people in Villa Rica has ended with one person dead and an innocent bystander injured.
It happened at the corner of Cleghorn and McCauley streets around 6:22 p.m. Sunday.
Police say Marko Burton, 36, and Julius Walker, 31, had been involved in a dispute earlier in the afternoon at a different location. Walker was at the Cleghorn Street location when Burton stopped his vehicle and started firing shots at Walker, police said. The men began shooting at each other, striking an innocent bystander.
Burton was also shot and transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The innocent bystander was treated and released from a local hospital.
Walker, who was not injured in the shooting, was arrested as part of the shooting investigation, and for an active warrant for a probation violation, according to police.
Investigators later discovered that Burton’s firearm had been stolen from Paulding County.
