Shooting victim speaks after ambush at Atlanta apartment complex

- A northeast Atlanta man is recovering after a shooting at his apartment complex early Saturday, according to police.

The crime happened around 1 a.m. at the Monroe Place Apartments. Officers are looking for two suspects.

The victim, Sean Waters, spoke with FOX 5's Marissa Mitchell after getting out of the hospital following the incident.

"It was very traumatizing, to say the least ," Waters said. "I feel like I'm always looking over my shoulders now. It's a very scary feeling."

Waters told Mitchell a gunman demanded him to get out of his car when he tried to park inside the complex's deck. When Waters refused, he said the man shot through his front window, striking him in his stomach.

"He told me to get out of the vehicle and, obviously, I was not going to do that," Waters said. "He repeated himself one more time. He didn't wait for a response and he pulled the trigger."

Sgt. Warren Pickard told FOX 5 News the gunman ran into a gold Toyota, which was waiting on a ramp, before fleeing the scene.

Waters hopes officers tracks down the duo. Meanwhile, he wants more information on security measures, including guards and surveillance cameras, at the Monroe Place Apartments.

"Why did they choose me? Was it just random? I happened to pull in and they were ready to make a move...They accomplished nothing except shooting me," Waters added.
