Shirley Franklin hosts APS female students for Girl Power lecture series

ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - March is Women's History Month and to celebrate, Atlanta’s former mayor Shirley Franklin is working to ensure girls realize their worth and potential from a young age.

Franklin hosted her annual lecture series about Girl Power" in northwest Atlanta Tuesday morning.

Female students from every Atlanta Public Schools' middle and high school were invited.

The presentation featured inspirational presentations and messages of empowerment.

More than 700 girls attended the event.
