Man killed in construction accident at Pinewood Studios

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. - A man fell to his death during a construction accident at Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Fayette County, according to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.

The incident happened Tuesday at the studio, located on Sandy Creek Road in Fayetteville.

The identity of the 41-year-old victim has not been released pending a notification of next of kin, authorities said.

SKYFOX 5 flew over the scene around 3 p.m. and found a mostly empty parking lot. 

A Pinewood Studios representative told FOX 5 the incident was not related to studio production. 

The construction company the man was working for, Randolph Williamson, released a statement on the incident late Tuesday which reads:

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of a subcontractor who was fatally injured in an accident today on a construction site at Pinewood Atlanta Studios. As the project’s general contractor, we promptly informed the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and are cooperating with the ongoing investigation. We hope to learn more in the coming days about what caused this tragedy, as safety is our top concern at this and all of our project sites."

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will conduct an investigation.
